2006  Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods (69-62) is at 13-under par and leads by four shots over Jim Furyk (68-67) at the halfway mark. His four-shot margin is the largest 36-hole lead in tournament history, breaking the previous record of three strokes by Michael Campbell in 2005.

Tiger Woods’ 10-under-par 62 Friday is the lowest score in tournament’s history:
Tiger Woods    62, 2007, Round 2
Padraig Harrington    63, 2002, Round 1
Davis Love III    63, 2003, Round 3
Michael Campbell    63, 2005, Round 1

There were only two players who shot 10-under par scores on the PGA TOUR during the 2007 season. Rookie Brandt Snedeker shot an 11-under 61 in the opening round of the Buick Invitational and Zach Johnson shot a 10-under 60 in the third round of THE TOUR Championship.

Colin Montgomerie posted a 5-under-par 67 Friday after an opening-round 80. His 13-stroke turnaround marks the second-best improvement in tournament history. Thomas Bjorn carded scores of 80-64 in the second and third rounds back in 2001.

Rory Sabbatini’s 12-stroke decline (69-81) matches the largest decline in tournament history. K. J. Choi shot rounds of 65-77 in the third and fourth rounds in 2003.
Paul Casey has recovered nicely after a difficult start Thursday when he made a triple-bogey (par-5, 2nd) and a bogey (par-4, 4th) in his first four holes. Since then, Casey is 9-under, thanks to 13 total birdies and four bogeys. He rallied to finish at even-par 72 Thursday and then shot a 5-under 67 Friday. He is at 5-under 139 at the halfway point and in fifth place

Tiger Woods is making his ninth start in this event and he has posted above-par scores in only three of 34 total rounds. Woods’ only above-par scores were a 4-over 76 in the final round in 1999, a third-round 74 in 2001 and a final-day 73 in 2005.

The lowest opening-36-hole scores in tournament history:
